This is Jenny Deters’ f0urth book. As the title suggests, it’s 13 different patterns designed by Jenny, charted and explained. This is my favorite book that she’s written. The socks do take longer to complete, but they are absolutely stunning. This book is for the accomplished knitter, one who ribs with confidence.

About the author: Miss Jenny Deters has been knitting and crocheting since she was 6 years old. She’s been knitting on circular sock machines since 2003. Her teaching and pattern writing began when she entered several items in a contest at a CSM national event in 2008. In addition to her socks winning best of show, everyone needed to know how she did it. So she began writing patterns and then books. She met me, Jamie Mayfield, in 2011 and decided that I would be the best sock knitter out there, if she had to do all the work herself. This is when we developed sock school. Anytime I have a question about how to do something on the CSM, Miss Jenny is where I turn first, and her books are a fabulous reference. She teaches at crank ins and offers private lessons at her home in Chandler, Indiana.

Now this is my almost favorite book of Miss Jenny’s. Well, it was my favorite one until the Tru-Knit came into existence. Just saying. This book is another really great publication of creativity in knitting on a CSM. Check out the table of contents for a list of the patterns included. The front and back cover shows all of the patterns in the book.

Socks and more is a CSM pattern book with more than 12 different projects. The patterns are well written and easily understood. Please see the table of contents image for the range of patterns that are to be done on a circular knitting machine. This book includes general instruction and incredibly creative patterns.

You will not need a ribber to make these socks, although if you are all about a ribbed cuff, there’s nothing stopping you. All of them are lace, which requires you to follow a chart and transfer stitches. There are 12 sock patterns that are thoroughly explained and easy to follow.

dThis book blends machine knitting with hand knitting. This is the second volume of the CSM Cookbook by Heddi Craft. It is a fusion of hand knitting and machine knitting. And oh so fun! In fact, I am off to make the footies right now. So, if you can knit tubes, this book will show you how to turn them into socks with knitting needles. The fingerless glove and mitten pattern shows you how to leave a portion to do an afterthought thumb (you will need csm toe making skills for the mitten or what the heck, you can knit the top of the mitten on sticks too if you want!). The headband is also a tube project as well as the scarf with crochet embellishments.

If you are an organized person who likes checklists and explanations, then this book is for you. Especially if you are having trouble figuring out how to use your Gearhart style machine. Seriously good information that is practical and understandable. If you are one who needs a manual, you will not be sorry you bought this book.

This book has patterns with “recipes” for socks. The recipes have check lists. The idea is to photocopy the recipes and use them for every pair of socks. It’s very clever.
